Lmao I must be watching a total different movie, I watched it with a friend we both said the ratings for this wack ass movie is outrageous. I'll take the older alien movies, people dying for nothing, way too boring in the beginning, killing off the whole to stupid things, multiple warnings just to still get killed by the stupidest shit. I honestly don't know why anybody other then Noomi was in the movie SPOILER I guess just to die🤷🏿‍♂️ I'm not one of those "the original is better" people either, I love Scream 1 & Mission Impossible 1 but the later parts are all better then 1.

It is the Shyamalan film that I have seen several times, and I discovered it during an English study session in middle school, therefore around 12-14 years old, the right age to be interested in a film that is only apparently a thriller, but it is more a sort of dry fairy tale, without that gothic trait that a director like Guillermo Del Toro could give it. I personally read the film in this way, through subsequent viewings. There are two main themes in the film: the inability to keep evil away, and the strength of a belief. The community represents the dream of a "small old world": it is no coincidence that the time on which the village was set is 1890, a period of apparent tranquility in America, before the two world wars, but after the war of secession. The point is that evil can never be banished: it can be eluded for a while, but never completely eliminated. During the film, there is the feeling that evil has been externalized, projected outside a happy bubble and embodied by the unnameable creatures. The problem, at least for me, is that evil comes from within and has been brought (or rather, brought back) to light by Noah: being a madman, he cannot be considered completely capable of understanding. Can evil therefore be blameless? An innocent evil? It is a question that I have often asked myself while watching this film, and there can be a thousand different interpretations. Maybe my problem is that the madman of the situation could be accused a priori: being the crooked element of a community, he could be pinned down as the "natural" bearer of the imbalance. In truth, I believe that the situation would have come about anyway as we have seen, Noah exacerbates the situation, but at the same time becomes a useful tool to be able to continue the farce. The good is represented by Ivy, she, blind but able to see further than many people: it is ironic that her two companions run away, they who can see, but are tormented by fear, which makes them blind, while she continues. Fear manifests itself in Ivy anyway... and this is where the other theme is located, less evident but still present. The strength of the conviction with which young people have grown up - the fear of unnameable creatures - is so strong that it makes Ivy believe in the presence of entities, despite her father having told her of the farce. In turn, Lucius represents the man who finds himself between two entities, both absolute and devoid of human connotations: Noah's violence, which is in fact dictated by jealousy towards Ivy and the fear of losing her, and which however lacks motivations related to money or sexual drive (the causes of some of the deaths complained of by the elderly); on the other side, there is Ivy who represents love in a fragile creature, but who lets herself be guided by that feeling. Obviously, looking at it with a cool head, the film exposes itself to various criticisms (how did Noah escape? Why doesn't Ivy's father, or any other elderly person, go and get the necessary medicine? What would they have done if any incurable disease had broken out?), but I find that the film provides an interesting show, a little different from the usual ones, and perhaps the last good film by the director before a fairly long hiatus.

I love the tone and visuals of _The Village_ , and the plot twist was at least thought-provoking. I was raised on the _Little House on the Prairie_ books, stories from the Pilgrims, and similar tales from 17th- and 18th- century America. I'm also often horrified by the immorality and brutality of the world and fantasize about escaping it. This movie met me right where I'm at
